A book review essay about the little known history of slavery in Rhode Island.

This article explores the activities of George Soros and his charitable organization, Open Society Foundations (OSF), in advocating for the full decriminalization of the sex trade industry. Research finds that OSF spends only a small amount of money on grass roots “sex worker” groups around the world advocating for full decriminalization, but the foundation awards larger amounts of funds to large human rights groups whose reports and policies have a wider reach. OSF’s rationale for full decriminalization fails to consider violence and coercion in the sex trade industry, misreads research, and does not include research from venues where full decriminalization of prostitution has occurred. Thus OSF and its grantees have created a partial view on prostitution that they advocate to the public. Those concerned with trafficking for sexual exploitation, violence, coercion, and abuse in prostitution should be cognizant of these strategies used by decriminalization advocates funded by OSF and be prepared to point out the unsupported assumptions and meet OSF’s allegations with proven facts.

La nostra contestazione sulla presenza del termine “sex work” associato alle migranti prostituite nasceva dall’esigenza di dare spazio alla voce diretta delle migranti che rifiutano, come ci racconta Anna nel suo articolo, una visione e un linguaggio che sono caratteristici dell’Occidente capitalista, come nel caso di “sex work”, termine coniato dall’industria del sesso per occultare violenza e sfruttamento.

Le Ministère du Tourisme de Madagascar et ECPAT France délivrent 12 conseils pour que la visite des voyageurs contribue à la protection des enfants. Si certains de ces conseils peuvent  surprendre ou changer les habitudes de voyageurs, ils sont indispensables pour assurer le bien-être et le respect de l’intégrité des enfants à Madagascar. Parfois, même les meilleures intentions des voyageurs peuvent comporter des risques sur le développement des enfants. Ce livret rappelle l’interdiction absolue du recours à la prostitution de mineurs à Madagascar.

Le présent rapport consiste en une évaluation des développements en matière d’exploitation sexuelle des enfants en Côte d’Ivoire depuis le dernier examen par le Comité des droits de l’enfant le 9 juillet 2001. Le rapport a pour objectif d’aider à renforcer l’action politique en matière d’exploitation sexuelle des enfants en Côte d’Ivoire et à prévenir que de tels crimes odieux soient commis à l’encontre des enfants. Le rapport encourage notamment le gouvernement à soumettre son rapport initial, en 2014, sur l’application du Protocole facultatif relatif à la vente d’enfants, la prostitution des enfants, et la pornographie mettant en scène les enfants tel que requis par l’article 12 dudit Protocole.

Cette 2e édition a pour ambition d’aller au-delà de la simple dénonciation du phénomène que constitue l'exploitation sexuelle des enfants. Comment  comprendre ce fléau et comment y répondre ? L’ACPE souhaite apporter une grille d’analyse à un large public de lecteurs qui pourront, selon leurs besoins, y trouver des éléments à même de faciliter leur appréhension du phénomène.

Family, domestic and sexual violence is a major health and welfare issue. It occurs across all ages, socioeconomic and demographic groups but mainly affects women and children. Indigenous women, young women and pregnant women are particularly at risk. This report explores the extent, impact and cost of family, domestic and sexual violence in Australia, and looks at what could be done to fill important data gaps.  

This report is based on the findings of the study “Protecting victims, an analysis of the Anti-Trafficking Directive from the perspective of a victim of gender-based violence”. Trafficking for sexual exploitation is firmly established in the European Union’s international legal and policy instruments as a form of violence against women. However, providing effective access to assistance, support and protection to victims remains a challenge for most Member States.

It is the German state, by normalising prostitution and by guaranteeing a total decriminalisation of the sex buyers, that has contributed to an enormous increase in demand :  the creation of mega-brothels with the capacity to accommodate around 1000 buyers of sex at once, and even more. Far from protecting the women, “the German model“ has become “hell on earth“ for them.
