Ce guide, suite au vote de la loi du 13 avril 2016, visant à renforcer la lutte contre le système prostitutionnel et à accompagner les personnes prostituées, rappelle que la prostitution   est une violence sexiste et sexuelle, aux graves conséquences sur la santé physique et psychique de celles et ceux qui la subissent.

This report discusses the human rights abuses suffered by Nigerian women and girls who are trafficked for sexual and labor exploitation within and outside Nigeria. It also records the experiences of foreign women who are trafficked into Nigeria, mostly for domestic servitude. The report not only highlights the psychological, physical, social and economic impact of such abuses on survivors but also discusses how and which support services should be made available to help victims heal from trauma and rebuild their lives.

The structure of the trafficking system, combined with its success and growth over the years, through the recruitment and mobilization of more and more young girls, renders the subject a viable topic for contemporary and scholarly discourse. This paper is based on the results of a field-research conducted for 6 months in Nigeria, in the frame of a collective project on human trafficking. This work tries to understand the sustenance of sex trafficking in Edo state by looking at three core issues.
