 This report, based on nine days and nights of fieldwork in Cape Town and Durban, contains 3 sections : the first is concerned with the commercial sex trade; the second, with varieties of "survival sex"; the third, with the identity, motivations and attitudes of child sex exploiters in South Africa. Although rejecting the idea of "race" as a biological fact, the terms are used to describe individual's racialised identities since these are the social categories used in South Africa to structure inequalities and organise social relations.
