 This issue confirms that
children in Africa face numerous challenges to
realising their right to be protected from sexual
exploitation. To tackle these concerns, government
bodies, NGOs, UN agencies and other stakeholders
have launched a number of initiatives throughout
the region. At the national level, some specialised
programmes and interventions were developed
targeting specific groups of children and addressing
different types of violations, including the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC).
