Description:

The Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children,
visited Malaysia from 23 to 28 February 2015, at the invitation of the Government. In
the present report, the Special Rapporteur highlights the country's commitment to
combating trafficking in persons, as evidenced by its legislative and policy framework,
and its multidisciplinary approach in taking anti-trafficking measures, which involves
key Government agencies and some civil society organizations (CSOs). She nonetheless
expresses concern about, inter alia, the focus on trafficking for the purpose of sexual
exploitation to the neglect of other forms of trafficking, particularly labour traffic. |
