Titre du document: Document title:Research shows that minor sex trafficking narratives do not reflect the experience of many domestic sex workers
Description:
Sex trafficking laws assume that all underage sex workers are exploited young girls who have been forced into such work by a vicious pimp. But does this actually reflect the experience of most young, domestic sex workers? Using ethnographic research from Atlantic City and New York City, the authors find that underage sex workers have much more agency in their relationships with pimps than many assume, and that sex trafficking discourses may serve to further alienate them from organizations to assist them.

Description:

Titre du document: Document title:Study on trafficking in women, children and adolescents in Brazil
Description:
This research represents the most complete material we have had in recent times on the phenomenon of trafficking and exploitation of women, children and adolescents. It shows how difficult it is to fight this serious violation of human rights since it articulates with organized crime and moves through local and transnational networks. The report that results from the research shows how national routes of the trafficking of human beings relate to international routes and mafias. The roots of the problem are very accurately addressed from the juridical, social, political, macro-economic, cultural and psychological aspects. There are also analytical studies of the Brazilian and international legislation, as well as a theoretical and conceptual referential that is extremely useful to orient the actions intended to confront sexual violence.

Titre du document: Document title:Serbia Ending impunity for crimes under international law
Description:
This report first examines the institutions responsible for the investigation and subsequent prosecution of war crimes at the Special War Crimes Court (SWCC) in Belgrade ; analyses the legal framework under which indictments are brought, and finds that they fail to meet international standards ; illustrates, through selected cases, how shortcomings in both the legal and institutional framework may lead to impunity, including
the lack of any investigation based on command responsibility, crimes against humanity or war crimes of sexual violence ; Amnesty International identifies the shortcomings within the systems established for witness protection and support, and which the organization considers to fail the victims and witnesses in proceedings at the SWCC ; the rights of civilians are further considered and focuses on the absence of
effective mechanisms in law and in the civil courts, which deny victims access to reparation. Finally, Amnesty International calls on the government of Serbia to publicly demonstrate the political will to end impunity for crimes under international law; without that political will impunity
is likely to flourish.
