 On 20 November 2013, Sarah Champion MP convened an inquiry into the effectiveness of legislation for tackling child sexual exploitation and trafficking within the UK. There was a broad degree of consensus among those providing evidence to this inquiry that, 10 years on from its introduction, the Sexual Offences Act 2003 is largely fit for purpose in respect of tackling child sexual exploitation and trafficking within the UK. The report makes recommendations for the actions the Government can take that do not require new legislation, but instead require changes to policy and practice.
