 The mules are recruited in different ways depending on the country, and depending on whether they are professional couriers or simply drug mules. A typical example of a drug mule is a single woman with two children and a mother to take care of. Something may have happened within the family, or the woman may owe money or fall behind with the rent or the school fees.
