On 21 and 22 May 2014, the former Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons,
especially women and children, Joy Ngozi Ezeilo, in partnership with the Office of the
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the United Nations Office on
Drugs and Crime, convened the second consultation to discuss ways to strengthen
partnerships with national rapporteurs on trafficking in persons and equivalent
mechanisms. The present report contains the outcomes of the discussions of the experts
from 26 countries in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East who shared
their national, bilateral, subregional and regional experiences in prevention efforts and in
the protection of and assistance to victims of trafficking, including the setting up of
institutional and legislative frameworks established for those purposes at the municipal
level. |
