Description:
 Like in other post-soviet countries, the Estonian sex industry started to thrive after the country's new independence in the middle of the 1990s, when the number of brothels and persons involved in prostitution increased tremendously. Drug trafficking, prostitution, and excise fraud are the main income sources for organised crime today. In general it is possible to say that trafficking in persons for the purposes of sexual exploitation exists within Estonia as well by crossing its borders. To a lesser extent Estonia can also be seen as a destination and a transit country.
