Description:
 The Special Rapporteur considers that Laos has the advantage of still
being in a position to concentrate on preventive measures to protect children
from exploitation and abuse. However, if these measures are not put in place
very rapidly and unless the Government gives them priority and adopts coherent
programmes of activities, the country may find itself in much the same
situation as some of its neighbours in Asia that are afflicted with a
conflagration of child exploitation and abuse.
