Description:

The Agenda for action against commercial sexual exploitation of children provides a detailed framework and categories of actions to be taken by governments in partnership and other relevant actors for combating commercial sexual crimes against children. Broadly, these actions are focused on : coordination and cooperation, prevention, recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration, child participation. The Agenda for action is thus the formal and guiding structure used by governments that have adopted it and committed to work against CSEC. In the United Kingdom, a National Plan for Safeguarding Children from Commercial Sexual Exploitation was developed in 2001. But it must be reviewed and reinstated. A specific national strategy on child trafficking needs to be developed to include the appointment of an independent national Child Trafficking Rapporteur. To improve collaboration between UK and international agencies, multi-sectoral networks should be developed to include the police, prosecutors, child protection teams, British embassies abroad and the travel industry. |
