 Throughout Russia, women and girls are brought from small towns to big cities, with promises of employment and are then forced to work as prostitutes.The vast majorities of these women will require assistance including acute medical and psychological intervention and counseling and testing for HIV/AIDS and other STD's before they can reintegrated back into their home communities. This requires the development of a network of safe houses in which they can undergo rehabiitation safety. An effective shelter make necessary a partnership between government and non-governmental organizations.
