 This book is very timely as it describes and compares the ways in which some of the major immigration countries in the world and some key international bodies, such as the European Commission, assess the costs and impacts of their migration policies and programmes. An innovative feature of the book is its comparison of government spending on migration programmes. One of the objectives of the book is to promote a better understanding of the complex challenges that policymakers face when they seek to assess the impact of migration programmes. Another key aim is to promote a better exchange of information between countries about current policy evaluation approaches and methodologies.
