Description:
 Since the abolition of the brothel prohibition in 2000, the Dutch prostitution policy in the light of control and mastery of sex workers. Under the name of the fight against trafficking in human beings are sex workers followed, registered, and unintentionally to mobility forced. It is questionable how effective this policy is. On the basis of experiences in Austria shows that registration hardly contributes to the prevention of trafficking in human beings. Also, the conditions under which sex workers work in Netherlands and Austria still little improved. 
These are some conclusions from the Complexity and challenges of the publication : an international comparative study of prostitution policy in Netherlands and Austria.


The research was carried out by the University of Leiden in cooperation with the municipalities the Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht and Platform31.
