 This report has been prepared by the Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality in response to the request of the Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Alan Shatter TD, to undertake public consultation and hearings on the Discussion Document on Future Direction of Prostitution Legislation published by the Department of Justice on 22 June 2012. This part of the report sets out the factual background to the review of legislation and approaches adopted in various jurisdictions to legislating on prostitution.
