 This Independent Inquiry was commissioned by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council in October 2013. Its remit, covering the periods of 1997- 2009 and 2009 - 2013, is appended. Nobody knows the true scale of child sexual exploitation (CSE)
in Rotherham over the years;
the Inquiry's 'conservative estimate' is that around 1,400 children were victims between 1997 and 2013. The report made 15 recommendations, some of which are specific to Rotherham with little broader relevance.
